Fire Door Compliance made easy!

Independent Fire Safety Services Limited (IFSS) are launching what they believe is an industry-first, designed to make fire safety compliance with regard to fire doors less expensive, less time-consuming and logistically easier for building owners, responsible persons, facilities managers and indeed anyone responsible for RRO compliance.

IFSS are members of the UKAS accredited Bluesky Fire Door Inspection Scheme and have developed their new method of managing life-critical assets following numerous discussions with clients over the years.

The ‘traditional’ method of inspecting and reporting the condition of fire doors usually involves reams of paper which the person managing the life-critical assets has to read, decipher and understand before even considering passing on instructions to correct any faults found.

Technology has thankfully caught up and inspection service providers are using a variety of electronic delivery systems which are much more user-friendly.

This latest development by IFSS goes a step further.

During the course of the inspection IFSS surveyors will check all aspects of each individual door with regard to compliance and maintenance tasks, with all data recorded electronically on a Tablet and an inspection label is applied to the door with a unique reference number showing the date of the inspection, this is recorded on the individual inspection sheet.

Faults are graded and categorised by component to make the managing of remedial tasks easier to manage and identify recurring problems and themes across all assets. The completed survey is then processed and delivered electronically to the client for them to action where required.

This is nothing unusual and other service providers follow similar methods.

The unique feature now offered by IFSS is the facility for the client to access the data whilst stood at the door itself. Anyone responsible for managing assets can check the status of the door at the time of the last inspection, see any remedial tasks that should have been completed or other more serious defects recorded. They will also be able to see which remedial tasks have been completed, who carried out the work and when. Equally the person actually completed corrective action can, if authorised by the client, record the work they have completed before they leave the door.

This is all possible without any additional electronic devices, no RFID tags fitted to the door, no software or hardware to buy* and no costly user licences or contracts to sign up to. The feature is provided at no extra cost to the client.

All data is stored securely one the Cloud with a backup file provided to the client.

IFSS are hopeful that the new service will make compliance more affordable to all clients.

All clients will receive full training in how to get the most out of the software to enable them to realise the full potential and features provided.
